La Marmite

Nestled in an alleyway in Seoul, La Marmite is a small traditional French bistro that prides itself on two things: their rustic seasonal ingredients and their authentic French cuisine. Introducing classic French dishes to its Korean patrons, La Marmite offers the food and the feeling of Paris.

Sure enough, the type, color, and illustration work together to craft a sense of Parisienne nostalgia. The logo features a humanist and geometric typeface that harkens back to the 1920s during the Golden Age of Paris when signage inspired by the Art Deco movement decked its streets. While the color scheme references the absinthian paintings of Toulouse Lautrec, the woodblock print-like illustration of the French Boar reminds the audience of the old western picture books they grew up with.
